Two committees met during the past week to develop team rosters for the three AL teams in the upcoming season. The process essentially followed what was done the previous two seasons that has led to arriving at a consensus among the two committees. In developing the rosters, the committees established the following considerations to ensure each team had a fair share of the following:

Home run hitters, Pitchers, Shortstops, Outfield, Bottom order balance, Speed, Attendance/Participation

In the end, the two committees were in near unanimous agreement on the rosters and their recommendations were approved by the AL Commissioner and the Club President. Thanks much to the committee volunteers who thoughtfully and impartially reached their recommendations. With one late league assignment adjustment, we ended up with 38 AL players and 34 NL players.

So, for the AL we have two teams with 13 players and one with 12. The team with one less player will have priority consideration for assignment of any new AL players, subject to a new player’s evaluation after playing a game with each team. Managers will confer to determine final assignment in the best interest of league parity.
